Blue Striped Iceberg

Icebergs are fascinating. This one has a wide blue strip, the result of meltwater sometime during the life of the ice sheet which this iceberg came from.

This particular iceberg has been hanging around in Main Tickle just north of the causeway between New World Island and Twillingate Island.

When we arrived on June 5th the icberg was grounded on the east side of the tickle near Meritts Harbour, as it eroded it moved to the west side of the tickle closer to the causeway.

Newfoundland Newfoundland Pony Toogood Arm

Going to see a man about a horse.

Yes, a horse, a Newfoundland Pony to be precise.

This image was shot in 2010 from the road in Toogood Arm. Hoss spend his summers on an island where is safe. He has a favourite spot to hang out where the ocean breeze keeps the flies away.

His owner is Jason Stuckey of Toogood Arm. As I am using this image on one of my greeting cards I took a card and an enlargement of this image to Jason last night. He has offered to take me out to the island to see the pony on Monday or Tuesday of this week.
